Travel Blog | Part #5 | And Then There Are The Bats! In Austin Texas During Covid

And then there are always the bats! There are 1.5 million bats that live underneath the Congress Avenue Bridge that emerge nightly around sunset (8:30 pm) in Austin Texas.

That is a sight to behold. These bats keep the pesky mosquitoes and small rodents away and the people of Austin love them for it. No need to bring bug repellent when you visit Austin Texas.

The Lone Star Riverboat sunset cruises are slated to open after August 8, dependent upon the number of active Covid cases.

This is a great way to see both the bats as well as the water and a lovely Austin sunset.

The water is about a 20-minute walk south of the hotel and the shops are an additional 20 minute walk. (35-45 minutes total, one-way to the shops on South Congress Avenue).

Come back tomorrow for more information about this exciting trip to Austin Texas During Covid.
