Travel Blog | Day 6 | The Driskill Hotel | A Gift For A Young Ghost

Last night after dark, I went downstairs to give my gift to Samantha Huston, I had bought for her before leaving for this trip, for the little four-year-old girl who died falling down the grand staircase of the Driskill Hotel.

The hotel was quite when I left the gift at the bottom of the stairwell.

I placed it in a secluded area so only Samantha herself could easily find it. What I brought for her was an adorable plush unicorn that every little girl would love to play with.

They say Samantha Huston’s picture is haunted. But staying in the room just outside of the painting. We could not get any sense that picture was indeed haunted.

Today was checkout at the Driskill. Lucky for us, the Driskill allowed us a late checkout since our sleeper car train was leaving the station at precisely 6:30 pm. We were 90% packed before noon and continued to pack until we got our showers taken care of and ready to go. The only thing left to do is pay the bill. While my husband checked us out…

Monday 4 o’clock Just Before leaving The Driskill Hotel,

Taking one last look at the hotel before leaving I looked down the grand stairway of what must have been Samantha’s last thing she saw before she fell to her early death. Children at the age of four have little sense of fear. By the time they realize they are about to trip and fall, it is already too late. From the height of the mezzanine three stories high her fate was sealed the second the accident happened. The mezzanine is an exceptionally large area for a child to play. She had probably played there many times before.

In fact, perhaps they lived on that very floor. There are several grand suites on the mezzanine now. We have no way of knowing since the renovations of the Hotel, what was previously done there.

I walked around and then finally finished what I went to the haunted hotel to see. The memory of a little child who lived long ago.

I leave the Driskill Hotel with fond, unforgettable memories. Rest in Peace Samantha Huston. Until the next person comes looking for your sweet memories. Good-bye little one.

Shortly after, our ride picked us up and drove us to the train station to take us home.

Stay tuned tomorrow when I reveal more of our trip.
